Background Information:

After reviewing Board Policy #4.602 – Class Ranking, a few items were noted as needing to be amended and added.

1. All grades earned in grades 9,10, 11, and the first three nine-week grading periods of grade 12 will be counted toward the grade point average and the rank in class.
2. The valedictorian and salutatorian selection will be determined at the end of the third nine-week grading period of the senior year.
3. Student must be eligible for first or second honor roll each nine (9) weeks
4. Student must earn a minimum of 85 final average in every course.

The Board’s current policy is included for your reference.

Staff Recommendation:

I recommend approval of the above-noted amendment to Board Policy #4.602 on the first reading.
